DIESEL - 7 weeks

This will probably be the last picture she sends me then it will be me sending her updates. We get him next Thursday. Although we are excited I know that my poo-free back yard is starting to come to an end. Good thing he's a little dog so at least there won't be those mondo giant poos steaming out there. Puppies are so much work but we know it's short lived so we'll just get through it and enjoy all the fun stuff that puppies do bring.

We saw some little puppies last week at a local feed store and Mackenzie was pretty timid. She loved to look at them but once the puppy was close she turned away. Puppies can be so in your face. I'm sure she is going to need some time to get to know her new puppy and get used to the little bouncy fur ball.

You can see he's got the white under his chin which will look like he's got a permanent goatee which we like and think it adds character to his little face.

TILE GIVE AWAY

Engrave Uniques is a very cool site that offers reasonably priced tiles for your home or gifts.

click HERE to go see their giveaway they are having.

I'm actually shocked!

Kris beat Adam? Don't get me wrong. I think Kris is a great singer but I felt that Adam had a little more edge. You were always surprised when he came out. They both tended to change up the original some of the time but Adam seemed like he did it more. In a good way. Kris reminded me of a John Mayer. That style. But I never did see Kris anywhere in the bottom 3 and I know Adam at least landed there one time. Obviously they are both going to go on and have careers and be forever famous.

Did anyone think it was strange that Kris Allens wife didn't get interviews or talked to? Everything went to his parents. I thought that was kind of odd. Hate to be a skeptic but I'm sure the fame will change them and they will have some tough roads ahead.

I thought last nights finale was the best one ever. I couldn't get over all the famous singers they had. Kiss? Wow. Never thought I'd see them on AI's stage. I also loved the bikini girl segment with Kara coming out there and singing and snapping her dress open to show her bikini.

New Addition!

Meet Diesel. He is our newest member of our family starting in June. He is a Mini Schnauzer and he was born April 8th and will be ready to move in with us the first week of June. We found a breeder located in Brownsville, Oregon.

We are of course excited. Steve and I both have been wanting a little dog and I came across this breed around the first of the year when I was looking through our local classified ads online. I read up about them and thought they seemed like a good fit for us. I like the size. And everyone that I have talked to that has had that breed has said they were smart family dogs.

At the time we were looking we were also involved with making our Disneyland plans and figured it would be best to wait until we got back. Well we're back and I move on things pretty quickly.

It's been over a year since we've had a dog. And we will readily admit the freeness of not having a dog has been nice but we are dog people and miss having a little 4 legged furry friend around. Plus he will be a great size to travel with and be out on the boat with us.

Will update more later.

Memory Lane

Today at work I got a chance to go with one of my co-workers to a gradeschool classroom where he talked about water safety to the students. This particular grade school was one of the ones that I went to for 5th and 6th grade. I had also been an aide there during my senior year of highschool.

It's been over 20 years since I've been there. It was so surreal walking in the door. Reporting to the office, walking down the hall. Being careful not to step on the 'snotboxes'. These were the tiles that were different colored. The things children come up with.

We walked down the hall, walking by all the little classrooms. Admiring the artwork on the walls. We continued down until we made our way to the library to get set up. The room seemed so small but just how I remembered it. Of course the card catalogs were gone and there were computers now set up in the back of the room but all still very familiar.

I was sorry I forgot the camera to take pictures of the water safety presentation and also to take some pics of memory lane.

In a conversation with my Boss the other day he was talking about how now at schools chalkboards are replaced with dry erase boards and the old style of wall crank pencil sharpners have been replaced with electric ones. I had no idea, since I haven't been inside a school for a very long time.

As I stood there in the library looking around I spied one of those old crank pencil sharpners with a garbage can placed underneath to catch any shavings that might sneak out. It made me chuckle to still see some things haven't changed with the times in this very small community. Who needs all the fancy stuff that the poshier schools have. These work just fine.

I don't know about you but this looks like a road hazard! Would you seriously buy seafood from here?

We drove by this on our way to the aquarium. It looks creepy like he'd have skulls hanging from the mirror. I hate to judge but couldn't he make it look Nemo friendly or something?? My husband told me that as long as the seafood is still alive it shouldn't matter. But I'd like to know what would even make someone stop to buy anything? What do you think?

This cracked us up!

We were waiting for the parade to start and my Dad pointed them out. We laughed at the him/her contrast.

FAVORITE FRIDAYS

This doesn't look like much but another one of my favoites. A simple holder for my jewelry when we travel. I used to put my stuff in a baggie and never liked that. I found this several years ago and love it. They had other styles but I'm a little partial to ladybugs. This holder works great. And it's so nice to get somewhere and not have my jewelry all in tangles.

~sorry for the bad photos, taken with my old camera and I was having a hard time that night!

I can't believe that our trip south is less then 6 days away. We've been planning this trip for 18 months, plans booked in January and it's finally upon us. I can't wait to see the park. We were there 5 years ago for our anniversary and there were quite a few of the popular main attactions closed. And we only had 1 day to spend there and we didn't go to California Adventures. So there is a lot to look forward to on this trip. Not to mention my parents are going with us and I can't wait to get some pictures of granddaughter and grandparents riding the kiddie rides together. Priceless moments.

I also can't wait to see the joy on Mackenzie's face when she sees all the magic the kingdom has to offer her. I know she won't remember it but I certainly will. All the reason to go again in another 5 years.

My hubby's kids are flying over from AZ to join us. They are 14 and 11 and have never been. I'm sure they will cover A LOT of ground and it will be fun enjoying the older rides with them.

One of my favorite flowers...

Do you get it all?

My goodness! Take a look at that! That is a dandelion weed. I'm not so sure I've ever seen one that long before.

Tonight while dinner was baking I went out to pull up some dandelions in the front yard that I saw when I pulled in the driveway tonight. This was one of the many I found but the only one that had a root like that. Now I know why they are so hard to get rid of.

FAVORITE FRIDAYS

This is Mackenzie's birthday candle. We've now burned it twice and we have 19 more years to go!

This candle made my list because my brother had one when we were growing up. But, I did not. Another one of "those" things. Mom, I'm just teasing. But seriously I didn't have one and I was always very envious of my brother's. For one thing he was older so there was the obvious idolizing factor. Then in my young eyes he has this SUPER COOL Birthday candle that was just for him and him only. Ohhhh, was I jealous!

I remember always thinking that someday my kids would have one of those candles. And that is just what happened. My nephew Tim and his wife Amanda knew I was looking for one and bought one for Mackenzie and I just love it! Now I just wonder if she'll appreciate the tradition as much as I do. Probably not but sometimes it can be a little about Mom.

Anyone else have any birthday traditions?
